Understand Stomach Ulcer Symptom

It is possible to have an ulcer without knowing about it because ulcers don't always cause symptoms. If you do have a symptom, it is usually a localized pain in the upper G.I. tract area. Less Common Stomach Ulcer Symptom

Nausea, vomiting, no appetite, and weight loss can accompany your pain. You may also notice that your stools are blacker than normal or tarry, or that they have a foul odor. Some of the stomach ulcer symptom are on the red-flag list in the previous chapter; that's because once an ulcer has developed, it is important to treat it before it gets worse. Other stomach ulcer symptom include dizziness, weakness, or paleness and severe back pain.

What is the treatment of Ulcer?

If you have stomach ulcer symptom, you will probably be prescribed an H2 receptor drug or a proton pump inhibitor as well as metronidazole, amoxicillin, or clarithromycin. Once you are treated for an ulcer, it is important to see your doctor six to eight weeks after your ulcer has healed to make sure that you are, indeed, ulcer free. It is also important to make sure that what you had was in fact an ulcer and not a cancerous lesion. Cancer can sometimes be mistaken for an ulcer.
