Three days flying right and left the UK in flimsy machines whose engines be able to cut out at any time: bid ~ to the mad, bad and at intervals downright dangerous world of competitive amateur microlighting in the Round Britain Rally. This documentary follows three teams of microlight enthusiasts, who navigate their way across Britain armed by a map and compass, sleeping beneath the wing, and doing their superlatively good to keep their aircraft in individual piece - while at the same time clocking up more miles than everyone else. Microlighters get to be lyrical over the poetry of the skies, no more than they all have tales of brushes with death; disaster is never much other thing than a stalled engine away. As person of the pilots says: 'You're putting your life in the hands of the kind of is effectively a chainsaw attached to a decorate chair.' But that won't have lodgings these enthusiasts from taking to their stately flying machines in an attempt to prize the true spirit of amateur aviation.
